Dolce has produced another wonderful pure white cria.  This handsome male cria, sired by our award winning herdsire, SRRA P. Glacier is every bit of what we had hoped to achieve with this breeding.  OVA Peruvian Finian is covered with buttery soft, bundled and crimpy fleece from his neck all the way down to his toes.  We often will hold off on judging young cria’s, preferring to wait until they mature a little, but in Finian’s case it was obvious right from the beginning that he has that something extra.  Of course, time will tell, but with genetics from PPeruvian Victor, CGA Amante de Peru, PPPeruvian El Moustachio, Snowbelt Hot Scott, Mister Antonio, Peruvian Hemingway AND Peruvian Bueno this should be an outstanding young alpaca.

This year we have bred BF Dolce to our herdsire BF Garibaldi.  Garibaldi, sired by the well-regarded Peruvian Accoyo Cahuide has just one cria on the ground but what a beauty.  We just had to put Garibaldi over Dolce to see if we could get another outstanding cria.  Garibaldi’s first cria, OVA Peruvian Alanna has placed First and Reserve Color Champion in her first two shows.

Legacyna’s latest cria, OVA Kiernan of St. Andrews is everything we had hoped for out of Legacyna’s breeding to FDA St. Andrews.  Well, I guess we would have preferred a female cria but other than that minor detail we couldn’t be more pleased.  With Kiernan we will be adding Peruvian Accoyo Santino to our growing genetic base.  While Kiernan, is still very young, he appears to have exceptional coverage, crimp, bundling and consistency throughout.  We’re looking forward to getting this little one into the show ring in the fall.

This year we have bred Legacyna to our award winning herdsire SRRA P. Glacier for what is sure to be another spectacular cria.  This next cria will bring together a “who’s who” of genetics, with 4Peruvian Legacy on the dams’ side and complimented by Peruvian Hemingway, Peruvian Bueno and Snowbelt Hot Scot on the sires side.  Wow!!

Nicoletta is arguably our best production female. She has given us two wonderful female cria’s, Assana, (a Reserve Color Champion) and her latest cria OVA Peruvian Alanna. Her crias have been healthy, robust and have just thrived. Assana and Alanna’s IGG’s were both off the charts and far exceeding 3500. Wow! Every alpaca breeders dream. Nicoletta has been bred to SA Peruvian Grand Moreno for an early spring 2007 cria. This breeding should result in another showing winning cria.

As expected Assana’s first cria, OVA Peruvian Nolan, sired by our award winning SRRA Peruvian Glacier (ARI # 839367) is just a knockout.   I guess we shouldn’t be surprised when you look at the genetics involved with PPeruvian Victor and Victor’s Vic, Jr. on the dam’s side and coupled with Peruvian Hemingway, Peruvian Bueno and Snowbelt Hot Scot on the sire’s side.  In any case, it is always gratifying when your breeding objectives are achieved.  We’ll look forward to seeing Nolan in the show ring in the fall of 2007.  In the mean time, Assana has been bred to BF Ricardo (Peruvian Accoyo Santino) for a late 2007 cria.  Again, this should be a cria to look forward too as we refine and diversify our breeding program.

We knew that Alanna was truly something special when she was still very young.  She just seemed to have that little bit extra in her fleece character and confirmation that made her stand out. I guess you might call it a presence.   We have been so pleased to watch her develop and she just keeps getting better.  The judges liked it too and Alanna won two First Place ribbons and Reserve Color Championships in each of her first two shows.  We couldn’t be any more pleased with little girl.  Alanna will be shown throughout 2007 and then begin her breeding career in the late fall.  Watch for her on the show circuit.

Peruvian Grand Carlin just has that “look” about him.  This is no surprise as his sire is the well-regarded SA Peruvian Grand Moreno.  Carlin has wonderful curly fleece from his ears all the way down his legs.  He has good staple length and crimp to along with his excellent coverage.  We have been so pleased with his development that we have bred our best production female, BF Nicoletta to Grand Moreno for a Spring 2007 cria.  Carlin has placed second and third against very stiff competition in large classes in his first two shows.  We’ll be showing Carlin throughout most of our 2007 show schedule.  Keep your eye on this guy.  He’s sure to be a winner.
